The giants of the forest are found in the emergent layer.  Tall trees can reach over 160 feet in height. That's as tall as a 15 story building. Strong winds, high temperatures, torrential rains and low humidity characterize this area.
Animals in this layer include:  insects, gibbons and macaws.
